Service charges* are extra charges for any services which are not included in your rent payments. Often applying to communal areas, they can include (but are not limited to) window cleaning & communal lighting in flats or grass cutting on estates.
Service charges are based on costs incurred in the previous year and estimated costs for the current year.
Statements showing how service charges are calculated are included in the annual rent letter sent out in March. A balancing statement usually follows in about September.
*Service charges do not apply for all of our properties. If you are paying a service charge, details of the services provided will be set out in your tenancy agreement.
